Día Internacional de Sensibilización sobre el Albinismo
El Día Internacional de Sensibilización sobre el Albinismo se celebra el 13 de junio de cada año y tiene como objetivo crear conciencia mundial, así como evitar el maltrato y discriminación hacia todas las personas albinas.
Con la celebración de esta fecha también se pretende acabar con el estigma y falsas creencias sobre esta condición, donde la superstición y el fanatismo no tienen cabida.
Esta efeméride fue aprobada mediante Resolución, emitida por la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas en el año 2014.
Prevenir el cáncer de piel en las personas albinas es la meta del Día Internacional del Albinismo en 2025
El lema de 2025 para el Día Internacional del Albinismo es: «Exigir nuestros derechos: Proteger nuestra piel, preservar nuestras vidas».
El riesgo de contraer cáncer de piel es extremadamente alto para las personas con albinismo. De hecho, el cáncer de piel es la principal causa de muerte de las personas con albinismo en la región de África meridional, por lo que la protección solar es un medicamento esencial, no un producto cosmético.
